Trail ultras for former sprinters

Welcome to my new blog about trail running and ultra Marathonning for former sprinters, jumpers, decathletes and other explosive athletes like football, baseball, and basketball athletes. You are probably like me and used to think distance runners were weird, but now the shoe is on the other foot right? You have a job, wife, kids and/or multiple kittens or gerbils to care for and it's getting harder to get your traditional workouts in. But running only takes a pair of shoes and the willpower to get off the couch and head off down the street outside your door. It doesn't take long to realize those crazy distance runners from years past really weren't all that crazy, or maybe now we're the crazy ones?

Anyway, this blog will share my experiences chasing my first trail ultra marathon finish and generally seeking to tell the truth about what it takes to be successful in this endurance sport. We'll tackle barefoot running, minimalist shoes, nutrition and even the best home brews for aiding recovery from your hard workouts. :)
